Long's Office Building (Panorama, CA)
The Client build this post-tensioned concrete building in the 1960's and sometime later moved north. We were hired to give this building a more inviting entry and upgrade the building from seismic damage. This was to be a design/build agreement using a general contractor we had worked with on previous projects. Project coordination was done mostly by phone and fax. The owner would fly in for design and construction meetings. By crossing a rhythm of entry fins we accentuated the existing design while simplifying materials and maintenance and shading the south facing windows. The lobby was opened up to the inner landscaped courtyard by bringing in first floor natural lighting and balancing light from clerestory windows while providing accessible ramp to all first floor levels.
