COMMUNITY ISSUES

From 1978 to 1983, I was very active in the Ocean Park Community Organization in the City of Santa Monica, starting public Recycling Centers in Los Angeles County and I worked on creating Neighborhood parks. I made presentations to the City Council in many of these and other issues. My commitment to community issues continues to be a major activity of my professional and personal life.

From 1978 to present, I have been very active in the preservation and creation of the Santa Monica Mountains for design and maintenance of public hiking, bicycling and equestrian trails linking Woodland Hills to the Pacific Ocean and providing grants to the local elementary schools for environmental educational programs.

At present, I am a Member of the Board of LINC Housing working toward affordable senior housing. I continually work with Homeowners Associations in regards to specific projects and City Planning issues. I have designed building and negotiated agreements with local Homeowner Associations, Developers and Government Agencies. I continue to review proposed and active Zoning and City Planning Ordinances in Los Angeles, supplying written and oral suggestions and comments. I have been actively working on the Woodland Hills section of the Streetscape Committee for the Ventura Blvd. Specific Plan and also on the Bike Path proposal of the MTA Right-of-Way Beautification Project. We are creating a new ambiance to renew the spirit within our community.

ENVIRONMENT ISSUES

My commitment to the health, safety and welfare of the occupants of any project is at the forefront of my thoughts. I study building product environmental effects and work toward specifying less toxic building materials. I consider the materials origin, production and installation prior to their selection, and in relation to the budget and building program. I am active in the Los Angeles Eco-City Council, an extremely active group of people who work toward and disseminate information on urban sustainable design concepts and social behaviors. My contacts for earth friendly developments are with Local, State and Federal Agencies and Utility Companies. Our access to information is extremely broad.
